Thinking of leaving my job to stay at home and raise my child. Married so my husband will get my tax credit and we'll save on childcare. No mortgage or debts so I can justify it to myself, if not other people. I have been working for 12 months since returning to Ireland from France, where I lived for 18 months. Prior to that I lived and worked in Ireland for approx 10 years. Will I be entitled to any sw, other than cb? Am concerned my time away from the country might effect this.

You may be entitled to FIS if your husbands income low enough. Others will know more.

My advice would to be to try part-time or job sharing etc as being a full time stay at home mum may not be what you felt it would be ...missing pay packet...social life...career progression etc

You might be eligible for jobseeker's benefit depending on your PRSI contribution record in Ireland (and the equivalent in France which might be taken into account). You must be available for, and seeking full time work - if you've decided to be a stay-at-home parent, then you may not meet this qualifying criteria.
