If a person leaves their job say for personal reasons i gather they may not get JSB for first 9 weeks unless they can give a reasonable cause for leaving the job and that theduration of the benefit is one year. If they are still out of work then can they apply for job seekers benefit which is means tested?

A person MAY be disqualified for a period of up to nine weeks if in the opinion of the deciding officer that person has left employment without good reason.

To qualify for jobseekers the person has to be available for and genuinely seeking employment.

Jobseekers benefit is based on previous insurance contributions and jobseekers allowance is a means tested payment on household income.

The person should make their application for jobseekers allowance/benefit as soon as they become unemployed.
