Leaving job and losing 9 weeks Social

Hi ,

looking at different websites and see that a person 'Looses' 9 weeks Social welfare payment if they leave their job (staying home and looking after children).

Could you tell me if you loose 9 weeks and never get them back i.e get paid 14 weeks instead of 26 Weeks(6months), or your social welfare payments do not begin for 9 weeks after you put in a claim.

If you are leaving to look after your children, then you have no entitlement to Jobseeker's payments as you are not available for and seeking work.

The nine weeks are counted as part of the total payable weeks, so yes, you do lose them.
