Leasing an affordable property?

Hi,

I wondered does anyone know if it is possible to lease an afforadble property? I know that the purpose of an affordable house is to find one you can afford to live in but as you are supposed to hold on to the property for 10/20 years I wondered if leasing or renting the property was an option?

you can rent a room out in your affordable house but you cannot the whole place out - it has to be your place of residence.....
