Learning Italian in Italy

I'm a mature adult who has some basic Italian from time working there years ago. I'd like to learn more of it by immersing myself in it over there - a bit like the Gaeltacht here and Irish. Has anybody done this, or have web addresses/contacts I could research. I'd like to spend 10 - 14 days and the cost no more than €1000.

No idea of anyone doing this commercially however a grand for a couple of weeks to an Italian family might be attractive.
Best bet I would say however is to contact the Irish Italian Institute of Culture, I'd guess they could help iicdublino.esteri.it

Hi,

http://www.accademialeonardo.it/en/italian-language-courses/italian-course-for-seniors-50.html (for the more mature students!)

I studied at this school in Salerno for a few weeks and found it great. I organised my own accommodation but they can also place you with a family, which will also help as you will have to speak Italian there.

I knew the location well, having Italian friends living there and having been on holidays there a few times. It is a nice size coastal town, and you have all of the Amalfi coast, Pompeii, Vesuvious & Naples nearby. But Salerno is not at all touristy, so you will have to speak Italian when out & about. Prices are very good too. I used to pay 1.50 for a beer and about 5 euros for a pizza. You will pay twice that if you go up the road to Amalfi!

Nearest airport is Naples (about 40 minutes away) with Aer Lingus. After that it's Rome Ciampino with Ryanair.

If I can be of any other help, please let me know.

Ciao,
JT.

Ciao!

We are organizing an Italian language course in Puglia, southern Italy for September.
If you are interested and would like to receive further information, we would be happy to help you.
