Leaky Washing Machine

We own a 2 1/2 year old Whirlpool washing machine. Last week a leak appeared, so we called our local technician, his summary was that due to high water pressure the detergent drawer was the cause in that the water was esentially spilling out of the drawer, a problem he says he has encountered before and is due to poor design by Whirlpool. After reducing the water pressure, he felt the problem would be resolved, however, this has not been the case, he has since been back, confirmed that there are no other leaks and has reduced the pressure further......It still leaks!! Has anyone else come accross a similar problem and how did you resolve it? I am loathe to go and buy a new machine, as I feel that although outside the original warranty period, the fault must lie with the manufacturer?!

We had exactly the same problem. Consulted the Hotpoint website .

They suggested relevelling the machine so that it higher at the front than the back. We tried it and it worked.
