Leaking Washing Machine

Hi
Our washing machine has just leaked all over the kitchen floor
The water appears to be coming from underneath the washing machine and is def not caused by the door not been closed properly.
When we took out the filter to clean it, water (seemed like gallons!) just pored out from the filter.
What could be the problem? Is there anything we can do to fix it .......... ? Other than getting out a repair man which could take weeks!

Depending on the make, most side loading washing machines, have a drain tube for draining any water prior to removing the filter. Check at the back to see tube hasn't fallen from waste pipe. also check for any wear and tear on drain hose.
