Leaking Velux window

Hi,

I have a roof window above my staircase which appears to be leaking. I have notices water marks on the wall below. I know velux have a 10 year guarantee with their windows, but does this cover the installation? Could be that it was not sealed properly. Could work out very expensive if it is not under guarantee.

Who installed it? If you commissioned it (ie, got a builder to fit it) call the builder back and get him to look into it (no pun intended!)

The window was fitted when the house was built. 4 years ago. Only noticed the leak recently

Make than likely poor install, check the seals around it, you can get good mastic ( 15 euro) in most building providers.

IMHO on a 4 year old house, there should be a homebuyers bond type of guarantee. Check if you have that, and follow the correct procedure before you undertake any repairs yourself (unless its an emergency). If you can contact the original builder, he should stand over the guarantee.
