My neighbour has just called in to tell me that my oil tank is leaking in the back garden. I could smell the fumes once I went around to it. I can see the oil leaking out of it at a "valve connection"..Is there anything I should do now and who should I contact in the morning to rectify the porblem? Im not sure if it should be the oil company or a plumber...
Most important thing to do for the moment is to use something to catch that very expensive fuel
Presumably its not just a question of tightening the valve yourself or asking the neighbour for some advice/help. If its more serious than just tightening then you will most likely need a plumber.
There was another thread about this recently, I can't remember where, might have been boards.ie which is down yet again. About oil leaks being a serious issue especially if they leak into foundations, as they breakdown concrete. I'd get onto a plumber pronto. Also an environmental issue, if it has to be cleaned up.

If it's coming from the valves it'll be easily fixed. There should be a tap type thing that you can turn off to stop or at least slow down the leak. The valves will then need replaced or maybe just resealed.
You should probably call a plumber it'll take him all of 5 minutes to fix... Where do you live?
