Hi,
I am doing a selfbuild in the north east. It is a timber frame build with a hallmark outer leaf. I have a large fireplace approx one meter square by 700mm deep for a stove. I have noticed with last weeks rain that there is water dripping in the fireplace. On the outside the chimney comes in from 2.5 meteres to about one meter at about a height of 3 meters from the ground. I think this is where the problem is as the builder did not put any slate on the slant where the chimney is brought in. Has anyone else had this issue and if so how did they rectify it? The builder said he will look at it this week.
