I'm just lookin to cover in a small area of my side entrance, its ony about 3m in length and 1 ft in width, it's currently just a muck area, would there be much involved in concreting this as a diy effort.

Nope,
maybe dig it out to be 100 dp evenly or so...mesh and fancy stuff not really necesary but will help it last the years.
Have you kerbs or walls around to act as a form, if not lay some timbers and fix them in place. If the level is an issue use a spirit level to mark around the edges tghe same finish level all round. Pick the point where the new conc meets the existing as the datum.
tip the cement out on to a sheet of ply or plastic etc, mix it say 1 : 4 with cleanish stone and sand and add water til it looks right , mix around with shovel and throw in. Level with a pice of timber. G

Or hire a mixer if lazy!

Just to add to the above- lay a couple of planks across the poured work at the end of the day and place a sheet of ply and some polythene over the lot to prevent your hard graft being ruined by curious pets, heavy rain or sweltering heat (if we're lucky).
