My father 64 is currently on this plan. I have been told to upgrade him before. He is 65 so his waiting period is only 2 years.

He worked in phisical job so knee and hip operations could be on cards in the future.

Was thinking of Control 600 total or simply connect. What would people recommend or is their a better plan I am missing?

Hi irbx,

The following plans are worth considering, details as follows;

1. Laya Simply Connect; price 1132pa; all public, private and 3 hi-tech hospitals covered, private or hi-tech hospital excess capped at 150 x 2 max
per year. Full cover for hip or knee replacement surgery in any private or hi-tech hospital - no shortfall, no excess to pay for this type of surgery.
Day case excess 50 per procedure. Good day to day cover included, 50% refund for medical expenses upto a max of 500 per year.

2. Laya Essential Health 300; price 961pa;(998pa from 1 Nov) all public, private and some hi-tech hospital covered, private excess capped at 300 x 2 per year for all admissions. Day case excess 125 per procedure. Full cover for hip and knee replacement surgery in private hospitals on this plan, no shortfall, no excess to pay. Limited day to day cover.

There is a 2 year upgrade waiting time for private and hi-tech hospital cover on these 2 plans, but only in respect of any pre-existing illnesses or on going
health conditions that he already has at the moment. Any new illnesses arising after switching plans will be covered in private and hi-tech hospitals, no
waiting involved.
It really depends on what 'excess amount' your father is happy to pay if he is admitted to a private or hi-tech hospital. This is a fixed amount payable
only on admission, it is not a nightly charge. The above plans have a max excess of 150 x 2 = 300 or 300 x 2 = 600 per year.
This excess amount is not payable for hip or knee replacement surgery in any private or hi-tech hospital. For any other type of surgery, it would be
charged.
