Lawnmower blade sharpening

I took off the blade from my petrol lawnmower at the weekend with the idea of getting it sharpened. It looks like there is only about 4-5" of a cutting edge on each side. I was thinking of bringing it somewhere to get it sharpened but they could charge me €20 for what looks like a few min work on an angle grinder.

How sharp do they really need to be?

I was thinking of filing each edge down and see how good I could make it.
 
you can get a tool that fits on the end of a drill in B&Q which sharpens the blade for about €20. Seems to work fine but an angle grinder would probably do the same job, save for the fact that there is probably an ideal angle which the tool seems to give.
