Las Vegas, New York, Washington DC

Hi Guys
We are thinking of going to Las Vegas, New York, Washington DC in July or September, what would be the cheapest way to book this trip ? Should we book through a travel agent or DIY ? I was thinking about DIY and fly to New York and get a return train to Washington dc, then get internal flights to vegas from New York.....what do you think ?

Why a return trip NYC --> Washington DC? You would only be covering ground you already have seen. Why not fly to Vegas from Washington?

Oh and go in September, July weather can be a tad sticky in NY and DC - it is the humidity rather than the temperature that gets most people.

It might work out cheaper for your flights getting the train www.amtrak.com or bus www.megabus.com from DC to NYC or vice versa.
