Laptop user needs broadband access, desktop has DSL

Simlpy, son arrives home from college with new laptop with wireless / bluetooth capability. I have a desktop with DSL modem, no wireless. He needs internet access - what is the simplest way to do this?


I am a complete numpty when it comes to any networking / connectivity issue, so please be as condescending as is necessary!!

Does the DSL modem have an extra ethernet port (looks like a big phone socket)? If so he can buy an ethernet cable and plug it straight into the modem. If not you could buy a small router (or better still, a wireless DSL modem)
