Landscaping plan for planning application

Hello,

We have submitted a planning application for a dwelling on a .75 acre site in the east cork region. Cork coco have come back to us with a request for further information, one of these items been a landscaping plan. Has anyone out there had experience of this?

From what we can gather, it would just involve a site layout plan and indications of what foliage we would have, ie grass, trees, shrubs etc. We understand also that we should go with deciduous trees that are native to Ireland.

Would this be enough or are we missing anything.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

normal nowadays, ask your local garden centres for a list of possibles to do it for you.

have copies of the site plan in a3 size for them

Yeah,

I go the same requirement from westmeath coco!! How much does one of these plans Cost???

You could do one yourself or get whoever did your application to do it:

use the site plan at 1:500, indicate the centres of trees (be fairly precise) and simply index them on another sheet:
"Tree type 1: Salix salix" etc. on an index and "1" on the Site plan.

Basically put in lots of trees, to anchor the house, keep in mind that you don't want to spoil your views and sun light too much - so have fewer to the south

Willow, alder, ash, beech, oak.

Use also Irish hedge plants for the boundaries: hawthorn, beech etc.

Superman,

Can this be drawn in freehand, or does it need to be on the cad model of the site plan?

Drawing by hand is not a problem. I would recommend that it be fairly neat though - if you can't draw trees very well (there are a couple of architectural conventions), then draw a small circle to indicate the trunk and a larger one to indicate the size of the crown. (Say 3mm diam for small circle & 10-20mm for crown) Then draw a small number next to it and reference it on an index sheet.

Hello again,

Many thanks for all the suggestions.

We are going to try and draw out the landscaping plan ourselves after we meet with the engineer. We will base it on a a3 size copy of the site layout. Hopefully that will be enough.

Regards

Just wondering how much the landscape plan should cost if you get it done for you?

How do I move this to the Home and Gardens forum?
