Landlord Assaults Tenant in TX

I hope this is in the right place. If my landlord physically assaults me, may I end my lease contract if I no longer feel safe? My lease says we will abide by the laws of the state of Texas. Thank you.

Regardless of the location of the original poster presumably an assault should be reported to the relevant authorities (i.e. police)?
