Just a few questions.
I'm looking at buying some land worth €50,000 and building a house worth €150,000. I will have enough saved for a 10% deposit and for the 1st phase of building.
I currently earn €65,000 so at 3.5 times my salary I hopefully would not have a problem obtaining a mortgage.
My problem is that I was a UK resident who moved over here nearly 2 years ago after splitting up with my wife. In the move I forgot to notify a credit card company and now have a CCJ which I have paid.
In the uk this would be a barrier to me getting a loan but, at a higher rate. Would it be the same over here? Do they all use the UK credit reference agencies? and with the amount of lenders for self build being less than 'normal' purchase, do any cater for my needs without needing excessive deposits?
It's not something I am trying to cheat my way around, it just annoys me that it is something I get punished for, for 6 years even though the debt is paid.
Also, would it be benificial to open a saving account with say EBS, so I have some history, albeit a few months, witht them when I come to apply?
