Has anybody been to the above. I have just booked flights to Bordeaux and a house in Lacanau Ocean. Any recommendations as to what to do in this area or what other areas to visit in the area?

Been there surfing, lovely place, had a great time.. Pretty good nightlife, at this time of year generally full of Parisiens! I dont really remember there being to much to do besides surfing!!
 
What is public transport system like i.e. transport to Bordeaux & neighbouring towns? Would we be better off just hiring a car for the two weeks? Any recommendations of where to visit would be very much appreciated.
 
I'd hire a car.. The biggest sand dune in europe is right beside it, dune de pyla! Worth a walk one afternoon..
