Has anyone experience of getting a dining table made up. I'm looking for a 2000 x 1000 solid walnut table top on stainless steel or wood legs - nothing elaborate just clean lines but having shopped around I can only find veneer for a 1000E or solid for 3000E. Surely it can be made up for less.

You could try having a look also at www.furniture.ie or send a to who runs the site. They have forums there where you could register and pose your question.

I would suggest you contact a joinery company that specialise in bespoke joinery, they would have access to the materials etc.
Alternatively you could try this crowd ... [broken link removed]
I've no experience of them but the stuff looks nice.

Yikes they are not cheap 1.5k for a sloid ash table with no extensions or drawers ... nice lookin tables though pity they are so steep.

There is an excellent furniture designer/carpenter in west cork called Eric Pearse, you will find his number on www.goldenpages.ie.
He has designed and made furniture for government offices, but takes on smaller jobs also. He may be able to do something within a specified budget.
