Kitchen flooring -lino

We have quite a cold kitchen, Particularly underfoot on our tiles. Is there any warmer and relatively inexpensive solution to this? We are thinking if putting Lino on top of tiles. Are there nicer lino's on the Market now? Would wooden floors in a kitchen be madness?
 
Whats under the tiles?

Raised timber floor with underfloor venting?

Uninsulated concrete slab?
 
I don't honestly know onq but it's a single block extension so I would hazard a guess that it's uninsulated concrete.
 
There are some very nice linos on the market now, have a look around in specialist flooring shops (so not the B&Q end of the market) and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by both the quality and the price.
 
Insulated lino or wooden floors would make a difference.
Would you consider underfloor heating in a screed?
Make sure its not a gypsum based screed.

Make them put insulation beneath it.
Rise in floor may need different thresholds and doors.
I think you may be unwise to focus solely on the floor however. :)

Thanks onq. You're right, the floor is the least of the problems and we are currently trying to address the wall insulation. Will have a look at lino next week and see what's out there.
 
there is a product called Aqua Step. It is a laminate type product, 100% waterproof and guaranteed 4 20years.Perfect for kitchens. Can be laid by a carpenter.
