Hi,

I'm looking to source kiln dried wood, preferably in Ireland for furniture pieces I want to have made. Can anyone help.

Thanks in advance

Morgans Timber on the Dublin quays for all quality kiln dried hardwoods and knowledgeable staff.... hardwood timber is rough sawn and sold by the cubic foot, expect 25% to 40% waste in processing.

Surely if you're having furniture made the maker knows where to buy wood?

Thanks Jo,

my hubby wants to try his hand at making it. Hence I'm not claiming to make it myself *having it made"

Hi

He'd need a few tools to process the timber as sold by Morgans. It is sold in planks and would have to be planed down, there are large saw marks on it. This is pretty common with all hardwoods, although it may be possible to get Beech that is pre finished.

You can get pine that is ready to use from more places, like Noyeks or The Panelling Center. Or Woodworkers in Dublin will also cut the timber to the sizes you require for a small fee, I think they will only do rectangular cuts and I don't think they have much in hardwoods.

Cheers
