We're thinking of moving from urban hell to a little piece of country heaven and I've been checking out various towns and villages in Kildare.
I've had a look though the posts here but most of the Kildare ones seem to be 2-3 years old.
We're thinking of Rathangan, Killdare Village (and surrounds), Newbridge. Not looking at estates but more detached houses on the outskirts.
Anyone from any of these areas have an idea on:
Community life- would like to get involved with farmers markets,[broken link removed], tidy towns etc
Parking in local train stations?
Getting to local train stations from above villages? Painful traffic wise?
As Dubs, would we be accepted or would we be blown-ins for the next 20 years?
And, considering our last two winters- what were the roads like during the snow? I know they were fairly bad everywhere, but I'm thinking that the further out of big towns you go, the worse the roads might be?
Would be commuting to Lucan and Blanchardstown.
