Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath

I am moving to work in Tullamore and have been looking at houses to buy in Kilbeggan, both in estates and private houses. What do you think about this this town? The bypass opened last week.

Why not live in Tullamore? It has a lot more facilities - train station, more shops, pubs etc. I was in Kilbeggan last weekend and it was very quiet.

I'd agree. Kilbeggan and Clara are ghost towns compared to Tullamore, which is a busy place with plenty of amenities. Having said that, this is reflected in the prices - you'll buy cheaper in Kilbeggan and it's five or ten minutes drive into Tullamore.

The price would be 40-50k cheaper in Kilbeggan. Lower school numbers, less drug promblems.
