JVC Micro System Not Recording. Can Anyone Help?

It only records through the one touch record button but
nothing seems to happen when that button is pressed.
I love the system and, though a few years old, it has not
received a heavy amount of use.
Anyone know of a good JVC repair specialist in Dublin with
reasonable charges?
Would appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Check out AV forums where I have got good answers to these types of questions.

JVC probably has a help desk you can call.

I have used Microelectronics Ltd at 6 Herbert Place for repairing stuff. I have found them very good. They saved a great JVC machine I use for timer recording. As they are not made any longer, it would have been a huge loss to me. They have a minimum charge for looking at it - which I think is €30.

Many thanks. This one has timer recording too, and I really value it. It is impossible to get in newer machines. Really appreciate your help. Thanks again.

I am still on the look out for a radio which has timer recording, so if they ever come back on the market, do let me know.

I presume that you know that you can use an ordinary DVD recorder to record radio programmes onto your TV if you have UPC Digital? I use that to record BBC 4 Extra and then manually transfer them to my radio. It's awkward but it works.

Brendan,
Have you looked at the Roberts Record R, it has 4 timers and records from FM or DAB onto a SD card.
You could use an iTrip or similar to broadcast from UPC onto FM.

Thanks Brendan.
I certainly will let you know if that happens.
Would be wonderful to see the timer record facility more widely used.
Yes, I do know about the DVD record facility but I will let you in on a
little secret.
When I come in after a night out I can take my JVC cassette recording, BBC 4 Programme or whatever, and play it on my Sony Walkman after I go to bed.
It is very handy and a great way to go to sleep - like someone reading me a bedtime story!
I am a bit old for that now, but I still enjoy it.
Each to his own.
Many thanks again.

I wasn't aware of it, but it seems not to be very practical. I record a lot of radio and you can't delete recorded programmes on the Roberts Record R. I suspect that they will fix this in the next version, so I will wait.

Presumably you could delete stuff from the SDcard by sticking it in a PC card reader and doing it there before returning it to the radio? But probably more hassle than you're looking for?

Yeah, the JVC machine which I have is very simple.

I set the timer just like a DVD recorder with recurring recording e.g. BBC Radio 4, every Wednesday at 10 pm.

Then I play it back when I want to.

I don't really want to fiddle around with anything else if I don't have to. I have to do so for BBC 4 Extra.

Hi Clubman

That works according to one of the reviews
I have not found a way yet of deleting recorded material without resorting to putting the SD card into a computer.

I have asked on the AV forums whether there is a better machine for this.
