JVC Camcorder

I recently bought a JVC camcorder. I installed all the SW on my Win2K PC, however when I try to connect through the digital imaging SW it says 'Camcorder not connected'

When I change the camcorder to memory I can view all the pictures on the memory.

Should I be able to connect to the camcorder and copy the tapes onto the PC and then onto CD?

The manual with it, is not very helpfull, does anyone have any ideas?

You should be able to connect your camcorder to your PC with a firewire cable.
Sometimes there is a seperate USB cable needed to access the memory card.

Can you advise of the software that you are using?
Also can you advise as to the cable that you are using to connect PC to camcorder.
Finally, what make camera is it.
