Hi,
I recently moved back to Ireland from the UK and started working here on 1st July after 6 years away. Salary is €70k per annum. Since I'm only working 6 months in this tax year, thus earning €35k and the tax ceiling at 20% is €35k, will I pay 20% tax every month or will I pay some part at the higher rate of 41% every month...which means I would then have to claim back the tax next year?

Thanks

I feel the tax office may give you cumulative tax cert , and this will eman you should pay no tax on your 35k . Remember to claim all allowances , especially if your wife is not working and you have kids under 18 , claim the home carer allowance which is worth about an extra 900 euro per annum

Emmm.
Am I missing something in the original post?

From DSFA website...

"In addition, the person you are caring for must:
  • be so disabled as to need full-time care and attention (medical certification is required),
  • not normally live in a hospital, home or other similar institution, and
  • be aged 16 or over,
    or
  • be under age 16 if Domiciliary Care Allowance is being paid for them by the Health Service Executive. You should give documentary evidence of this payment."
