Just qualified Household Benefits Package but still paying for TV Licence thru DD?

I have just received a free tv licence from the department.

I am currently paying monthly by DD for my current licence.

What is the position regarding the licence on DD? Can I stop the DD and just use the licence I was sent by the dept?

As you have a free TV licence now, just stop the DD.

I understood that the free licence will only kick in when the current licence expires.

Once you qualify for the Household Benefits Package, you become eligible for a Free Television Licence from the next renewal date of your television licence.

This confirms what pudds posted.

The letter from the department is telling me to send my licence in if it is dated after the date of qualification which happens to be 18 months ago.

Also the new licence is dated as of this week.
