Hi,
Just opened a container of raisins, and put some in a bowl for my 3 year old son. He accidently knocked over the bowl on the table, then started crying, that's when i notice that there is a dead wasp/bee in the raisins. I know for sure the bowl was clean when i put them in, and there is no chance it was on the table either. Should i contact the packaging company for these, as the manufacturer's number is an american one, but they are packaged by a company here in Ireland.

absolutely - put all raisins and dead critter back into packet and put the whole thing into a plastic zip loc bag, phone the number of the packaging company and ask who to send it to.

You shouldn't send the package anywhere- hold onto it and the company should organise for a customer service rep to call out to you, usually with a complimentary hamper or voucher as compensation. It's up to you whether you wish to accept the compensation they offer or else pursue it further.

Its highly unlikely you will be offered anything out of the ordinary for compensation for finding a dead insect. Its likely you will be asked to send it in so they can look at it.

My worry is that the raisins killed the wasp.

Hi there,

Got on to the packaging company here in Ireland, they sent out an envelope for us to send the wasp to them in. The girl we spoke to said the wasp would be sent to california (as that's where product originated) for testing. No fear they get me to accompany it on it' travels....lol.

I thought that the natural habitat of WASPS (Vespula Pilgrima Paters) - both living and dead - was in New England

clare, why not request a refund before you do anything else. It's not your problem if the wasp is Californian or not. You simply bought the raisins for your kids. The least they can do is compensate you with a fresh packet of raisins, or maybe post willie wasp to environmental health
