I am just been offered a part-time position (2 days a week) and we have agreed salary - an hourly rate. What else should I do/know before I start work?
Make sure your holiday entitlement is clearly defined from the start. I have worked for 2 different company's on a part-time basis, the first one genuinely didn't believe that a p/t worker had any holiday entitlement and I had a nightmare convincing them of the legal requirements. The second place accepted I had an entitlement but didn't seem to be able to comprehend how to do the pro-rata maths, when I left them a couple of months ago I had to send them a Holidays for Dummies type document explaining why they owed me money for untaken time off
