JSB and payment for children

Hello. The good news I got a job, albeit part-time, 19 hours a week. I'm no longer a "dependent spouse" on my husbands Job Seekers Benefit Claim.

However the portion for our 3 children also got cut. I understood that DH would still get half for the kids, 14.50 per child per week as I'm earning under €400 per week. I'm wondering am I wrong in thinking this, (I need to check before I send DH down to SW to queue for hours...). Thanks.

The other thing is if we are only getting his 196 per week and plus my part-time wage, are we entitled to FIS? We're well under the 703 limit (with 3 children) but I'm not sure because he getting SW? Thanks in advance.

As far as I know , you can only claim one SW payment , so as a family , it may be more favourable for you to claim FIS .

However , you would need to contact your local office for clarification

Thanks guys, welfarerite, do you mean although DH is on JB, I can apply for FIS?

And do you know about the rate for the children as I'm earning under 400? Thanks.

Half rate payable for kids. YOU are not on SW so YOU claim FIS, but hubby's JB will be added as income.

Thanks so much Welfarerite, I suspected as much re the kids, will send DH down to queue again, pity about him, it's worth 40 euro per week and when that's sorted I'll apply for FIS. Ta, Dette.
