Hi all,

I applied for JSA recently, Ive yet to be paid but I got a letter yesterday to say my means had been assessed & I had been approved for payment but there was no mention of a rate or when Ill be paid.

The reason I applied for JSA was that my husband was on a very low wage & i only worked 3 hours per week. The sw told me I would get a higher rate on JSA than JSB, that I would only get half rate on JSB.

Anyway, My husband got a call today offering him a new job. His earnings will double to €440 per week, mine will remain at €31.65 (3hours , one day per week) so Im presuming based on the limited knowledge I have of assessing means that this will leave me inelligible for JSA. So, would it be possible for me to now apply for JSB at the half rate even though I have a JSA payment pending?

We have 2 children.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I wont get to visit the local office until monday & they did not answer the phone when I callled today.

Thanks in advance

Yes, if you will be ineligible for JSA due to a revised means test, you can claim JSB again.

If your normal working pattern has been a 1 day week for a period of time you will not qualify for jsb as you will be deemed to not have any substantial loss of employment.
