JS Benefit Relevant Tax Year

Hi All,

I understand the rules for JS benefit are based on the relevant tax year - 2 years previous but I am wondering if anyone knows how this situation would work.

Person is out of the country working abroad in 2008 so would not have any PRSI contributions paid to claim JS benefit in 2010. If that person was in the country in 2007 and paid enough PRSI contributions and lost their job in Dec 2009 and signed on from then - would they be entitled to it in Dec but then it would stop in Jan based on the 2008 contributions? Or does the fact that it started in 2009 mean it will continue on.

Cheers!
