Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could tell me is it possible to have joint mortgage sole title when you are married (tax related)? I am getting conflicting advise from our broker and solicitor. The solictor says it's no problem (even rang the lender to confrim) but our broker won't even entertain the idea. I am a FTB but my husband is not. Any ideas?

Thanks

There should be no problem.
I know IIB won't entertain it, is this the lender your broker is dealing with?

If this is to avail of joint "FTB" married mortgage interest tax relief then it's not necessary to have both spouse's names on the mortgage. You just claim the married relief. Of course you may have other reasons for putting either or both names on the mortgage and/or title.
