I'm hoping someone can offer some guidance.

Mother and father in law have quite a few joint accounts . Fil is now mentally incapacity due to dementia and has been urgently admitted to hospital. There is no enduring power of attorney. What is the situation in regard to joint accounts?

I also have questions in regard to fair deal scheme and their accounts but I'm not sure where to post if someone could direct me please. Thanks in advance

So firstly you should check the mandate on the account, a simple example, are 2 people required to sign a cheque or can 1 just do it. If the latter then potentially your mother may be able to continue to operate the account.

However without a PoA you may need to consider making your Father a ward of court. I'd suggest talking to someone like AgeAction or the Citizens advice bureau for more advice
