Hope I have this in the right section.Myself and my partner hope to get married in the next year. Our financial situation is:
Me:
Civil Servant with a poor credit rating. Like many I bought an apartment at the wrong time and have struggled with mortgage/credit union loans etc. I am getting them in order now but my record with the credit bureau can't be good after the last few years and will take at least 5 years to improve.
Partner:
Primary School teacher with no loans and great credit history. Earns 60k circa.
My question is this:
If we get married next year does my partners credit history automatically become linked to mine. The reason I ask is that we would hope to move into a house in the next 2 years. We would hope to apply for a mortgage in my partners name only. Should we being staying away from joint bank accounts etc?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
