joining block to stone

i am wondering what is best way for me too do my extension . i am building up vertically so wil want use blocks on top of old stone walls.what is the best way for the two to be tied in ?

you can fix a steel rail to the existing structure and then use sliding wall ties to the new blockwork, this allows for diferential settlement...
