John Delaney/'The Gaffer' - Stay or Go ?

I think its unlikely either Delaney or Staunton will be going anywhere in the short term because both have contracts with the FAI for 4 and 6(?) yrs respectively, so to dismiss "Stan" would cost the FAI c €1m+ and thats not going to happen.
I dont know any sporting organisation whot would appoint a manager to a 4 year deal when he doesnt have a shread of coaching experience at international level, maybe Delaney saw something in Staunton that has yet to be revealed!
Also its obvious we're out of the running for Euro08 so which "world class manager" in in their right mind would take the job and work under the current regime.?
 
Re. John Delaney-he failed his first test-appointment of a manager/management team IMHO.

Let's see how he does with the League of Ireland. I'm sure that Dundalk fans would say he's failed at that already! But lets give him a year anyway.

Exactly. That's what will probably save Staunton for now, although if ticket sales are dire for the coming months that could force their hand - the fee they have to pay to the GAA + a half empty Croke Park =

PS How about Eric taking over from Stan? It'd never be dull.

Totally agree, we needed a man (or woman !) to manage the squad and instead we got a boy !

Bottom line is Delaney took a massive gamble on Staunton. It could have paid off ala Klinsmann or van Basten but Staunton obviously isn't able for this job.

Plus Germany and Netherlands have world-class players, you need a experienced manager to get the best out of the mediocre bunch we have at the moment.

I think the FAI knew what they were doing in regards to ticketing for Croker, they did it in blocks, so even if people were turned off and there was half the stadium empty, they still had the quids in. They did it many years ago (1991-2) and sickened me totally when they were swindling people out of tickets and seats. They deserve what they get!
 

But heard yesterday that the next two games aren't sold out - is this true? Heard a guy on the radio saying he'd got his offer of the tickets from the FAI on Tuesday but had decided not to buy.
 
Staunton will go after this campaign for sure but waiting in the wings will be our saviour................Roy !

And when Roy storms out after an inciden with a soggy jaffa cake, Eamo will say the normally juicy filling was just not up to the task, half the country will boycott McVities, until they find out they were from Lidl, while the other half of the country will say when you're paid a million a year you should close your trap and be grateful underpaid nurses don't hang you by your particulars!
 
if the match officials take his side dundalk will be lucky to be in the leinster league next year . wonder how many dubious peno's/bookings./offsides will be awarded to/against us this year. watch and see I suppose.
 
thats two codes where ireland have now been beaten at croker (compromise and rugby). lets hope to avoid the hat trick.
