Jobseekers benefit

Hi,I was made redundant in June 06,havent worked since and have never claimed jobseekers benefit,does anyone know if i am still entitled to claim it at this stage and if not,how long would i have to work for,in order to be eligble for it again?Thanks a million,Philip

How come you never signed on? If only to get PRSI credits towards long term (e.g. pension) benefits? If you are still unemployed then you should sign on now but I would doubt that your claim can be backdated to June 2006 whatever about to some more recent date.

You may have left it too late to apply. However I suggest you go to your nearest SW office to day, bring passport, P45 and proof of address and they will check out your entitlement.
Jobseekers Benefit is based on PRSI contributions and therefore is not means tested.
You must also be available for work and actively seeking work to qualify.
The first question you will be asked is why you did not apply immediately you were made redundant
