Jobseekers Benefit - Payment

I had to sign on today for the first time in my life, I have been working full time since I was 18. I dont have a clue about this and I stupidly didnt ask enough questions in the SW office. But I am confused I was told I would have to collect payment every wed from local post office. I was under the impression that JSB or dole was paid directly into bank account - ANybody know?

that has changed since last year to catch people who were scamming the system. Anyone who signs on from now on will be collecting their payments from post office each week.
