Jobseekers Benefit ending soon...

Hi,

My nine month's Jobseekers Benefit is ending in about 2 months.

I've asked in Social Welfare Office what I might be entitled to when it ends but they were of no use really. They did say I may be eligible for Jobseekers Allowance. I'm just worried about forward planning our family's financials and it seems I won't be able to until my JSB ends.

I was wondering if anyone has any idea what I might be entitled to (if anything) under JSA.

My wife currently earns €39,000 approx but, as posted on other forums here, our outgoings are barely covered by this.

The Welfare Office did mention JSA is means-tested but I'm worried cos my wife earns above AIW that they'll think we're loaded...when in fact we're insolvent as it is with me getting €188 JSB.

Any feedback welcome.

Thanks vandriver.

So, a quick calculation below.

Wife's gross = 635 approx
Less 60
=575 euro x .6
Equals = 345 euro
Minus 188 euro which is what I'm getting now (not sure what Qa is and I'm not currently getting anything for three kids we have)
Leaves €157. Does that seem right?

Do they not take mortgage payments etc. into account?

No they do not. Same position with my wife. Shouldnt really be called a means test if they arent taking into account fixed outgoings!!

QA is qualified adult. sorry. not sure on the maths. couldnt get my head around it at the time either.

You have to add together the 188 ,the qa rate 124 and 3xchild rate 29.If your means if lower than this, you get the difference. In your case about €55 (although your spouse's gross looks low)
