Does a "substantial loss of employment" (in qualifying for Jobseekers benefit) refer to the employment days lost or salary?
Three years ago my employment was reduced from a 5-day-week to a 3-day-week with a 3/5 reduction in salary.
I claimed Jobseekers benefit and received it.
Then a year ago I was increased to a 4-day-week, but my salary stayed the same (effectively a 3/4 paycut), however as I was now on a 4-day week, I did not qualify for Jobseekers benefit anymore so it stopped, which was very unfair and reflects how flawed the system is.
Then I went on a 4/5 day week where some weeks I would work 5 days and some 4 but my salary still stayed the same (effectively a further paycut). I would have had no hope of getting another job if I claimed redundancy so I accepted this.
Now as our office finances have improved I have been brought down to a 3-day-week again, with the same salary (effectively a pay rise on a €/day basis)
Does anyone know if I have suffered a substantial loss in employment (4/5-day week down to 3-day week)? Even though my salary has stayed the same the whole time, can I claim for Jobseekers benefit again?
