Jobseekers benefit after 41 years employment

I'm a 58 year old man who resigned from a private sector job due to burnout after 41 years. I can support myself with savings for 2 years and then plan to draw down my DC pension.

I have been approved JSB for a max of 9 months, I have never been u/e before and have never received and any benefits.

My question is how much pressure will I likely to be put on to find employment or will I be left alone for the 9 months.

I feel as I have paid into the system for 41 years, it is the least I deserve to get 232 euro for 9 months (I am aware that I will not get the increased pay related payment which will only be paid to new applicants on or after 31/3/25.)

It's unlikely that you will be persued.

After your 9 months expire, continue to sign on for Job seekers credits up to the end of the calender year of your 63 birthday. This will leave the possibility of qualifying for Benefit Payment 65 open and ensure continuance of your treatment benefits.

They will likely call you in once to assess your situation. My experience was one meeting with a designated officer to discuss your options. Just play the game by sending off a few emails to universities. They won't reply or will send a 'not selected' email after a few months. If required, present them accordingly. You will have to collect from the post office weekly though, and sign on in person once in a while.

Thanks for your helpful reply, I'm just wondering when you say send a few emails to universities, what type of jobs would I enquire about ?

Any Executive officer administration job, security guard, library assistant.
