So iv beign unemployed for the last 15 months, iv genuinely being looking and beyond the one or two small week long jobs (which i reported) theres being very little to nothing.

Last week though i was offered a home phone operator job - that ill have to set myself up as self employed with as they dont give contracts etc

its for three days a week tho and very much a varied income - depending on how many ring me and how long im on for - but iv heard its good pay.

Anyways how will this effect my jobseekers?

(As I have to tell them, id not rest with guilt, worry and the eventual them finding out fraud due to the company needing my pps number etc)

As its only for 3 days and im free and looking for a more stable job the rest of the time -

anyone any insight or help on this, as I would eb deeply greatful

Thanks guys!

i'll 2nd that, especially in these times.

I'm open to correction but i think you can work the 3 days and still claim your jobseekers for 3 days ( they dont pay for sunday's ) I dont think it matters how little you earn on those 3 days becausethe way they see it you are actually working. I think it could have an effect if you were earning huge amount of money.

You normally have to get your employer to fill out a form saying what days you did and didn't work. But since your going to be self employed i not sure how you would do this.

mmmm not really much help am i. But your post has only been up a while and i'm sure there's someone who will be able to give you more detailed information.

Thanks Guys its really apreciated

I dont really know (or want to lol) how people work legit jobs and claim - the stress and worry never mind the eventual tax catch up would be a painful worry to carry - besides I want to earn my way when I can.

The jobs a min of 20 hours (just under 7 a day) and good money but not amazing - so ill still be working hard enough for it - dont know hoe itl be and somewhat worries that itl leave me worse off then I am now as I'm just making it by.

Again thanks - as it matters x

very good thinking woodbine i remember reading that post as well but it didn't register when i read this one. Terrible what happened to that other lady.

Sent a pm - thanks guys as thats something I dont want to encounter - she sounds like shes in a terrible position - so heres hoping!

If anyone has any guidence over the possibility of a 3 day week id still like to know -

and guys really thank you - as its could be a whole lotta trouble I dont need!

For JA purposes, if you are employed in a wage earning capacity you sign off for days you work and can get paid for days of unemployment. For self employment, your self employment income is assessed in full without disregards. If a single person ,say, has average self employment income exceeding 204-00 euro weekly, then that person would not qualify for JA.
What intrigues me about your post however, is what is a "self employment job"? This employment is probably not self employment at all, but wage earning employment, albeit with commission type earnings. I would advise you to contact your local Social Welfare Inspector and discuss the matter with him/her before taking up this employment
