Jobseekers allowance & Rent supplement

Hey, does anyone know if you can get rent supplement while on jobseekers allowance? Iv just had to rent a house costing €600 a month. Im taking this house with someone else who will be applying for jobseekers in the next few weeks due to unemployment and separation. So means i will have to pay rent myself for the first while. Can anyone give me some advice?

The person on jobseeker's may qualify for Rent Supplement, depending on their circumstances.

The applicant will also be means-tested, so if there is savings or other income, that will be taken into account. If the two of you are renting as a couple, and you are in full-time employment, then the unemployed person will not qualify for Rent Supplement.
