Jobseekers Allowance - Problems proving not cohabiting

I bought a house 4 years ago with my then girlfriend. 2 years ago we split up. Unfortunately the house is in negative equity so cannot sell. We are both still living in the house but not as a couple. I pay half the mortgage and bills with loans from family. I cannot afford to move out as would still have to pay half the mortgage. Cannot sell either as would have massive bill still on my head from the negative equity in the house.

I applied for jobs seekers allowance 4 months ago. I had an assesor out with me in the house a few weeks ago who understood that relationships break up but in the current climate people have no choice but to stay in the same house. He felt there would no problem with my claim being processed. However I received a letter from social welfare asking for more bank statements, proof of income, mortgage statements and proof not cohaibiting!!! How can I prove I am no longer cohaibiting with my ex.

I have a joint bank account with her as this is a requirement with the mortgage and I still have to pay half of esb bills etc.

Spoke to Social Welfare today and was told that not there problem I bought a house outside my means (both had good jobs at the time).

How can I prove I am not cohabiting and am a genuine case.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I can only think of you both going to a solicitor and swearing an affidavit to the tune that you are no longer in a relationship?

Could you ask social welfare what kind of proof they will accept?
