When a person is on Jobseeker's Allowance (as distinct from Jobseeker's Benefit) do PRSI contributions continue to be made as part of weekly payment ?
(when I say PRSI, I mean in reference to qualification for contributory old age pension rather than any other benefits.)

The person in question is (very) part time self employed and last year chose to make a minimum PRSI contribution through tax return (income for period fell well below PRSI threshold)

The person has since been advised that PRSI contributions are already covered through his Jobseeker's Allowance.
is this true?

Yes, Jobseeker's Allowance adds a weekly PRSI credit to a person's record - one for each week or part of a week that they sign on/claim.

Is this definite gipimann? I too was under the impression that PRSI goes through on JSA, but I happened to be reading up on stuff yesterday trying to sort out a rather tricky Medical Card situation, and I'm nearly sure I came across a load of info on PRSI where it seemed to be implying that JSA no longer gives PRSI credits.

Thanks for the info Gipimann! :) I was trying to find what I had stumbled across but I think what I was looking at referred to an insurably employed situation so that would in effect be insurable contributory prsi anyway. Sorry about that.
