If you are on Jobseeker’s Allowance and get three days work one week and two the next, how do you inform the department the days you have worked. Also is the deduction based on what you earned those days or a flat deduction. Been looking on department website and citizens info but just can’t figure out. Appreciate any help.

You need to contact the Social welfare office where your claim is and they will give you a form to get completed by your employer, the information on this form is required to calculate your means from this employment. They will also give you sheets where you mark off each week the days you were employed and unemployed, Enter Gov.ie Operational Guidelines: Jobseeker's Allowance Assessing Income from Insurable Employment and that may help in calculating the means

The first 20 euro of wages each day is disregarded from the calculation. 60% of what is left over after that is assessed (or deducted) from your claim.

For example, if you earn 100 Euro for a day's work. The first 20 euro is disregarded, leaving 80 Euro. 60% of 80 euro = 48 Euro. So for each day's work, you will lose 48 euro from your claim.

Work 2 days, lose 96 euro.
Work 3 days, lose 144 euro.
Work 4 days, lose your entire claim because you are working more than 3 days

Just a question on the above,Is it different for Jobseekers Benefit?

Just a question on the above,Is it different for Jobseekers Benefit?
Yes. As Jobseekers Benefit is not means tested they don't look at the income you earn. You lose 1/5 of your weekly payment for each day you work (regardless of how many hours or how much you earn on that day). And if you work 4 days, you lose your entire payment.

If you have an entitlement to Jobseekers Benefit, its usually better to receive that. However, because of the different calculation for part-time work, you can sometimes find that entitlement to Jobseekers Allowance is more favourable. If so, you can opt to claim Optional Jobseekers Allowance instead. Legally its still Jobseekers Benefit and exhausts in the same way that your Benefit claim exhausts, but the rate of payment is the rate that you would have got if you had only been entitled to Jobseekers Allowance). You can switch back and forth from Jobseekers Benefit and Optional Jobseekers Allowance as many times as you wish, until of course your Jobseekers Benefit entitlement runs out.
