Perhaps someone could help me with the following. My son worked from Jan 2007 to Dec 07 was let go and was unaware that he was entitled to claim JB in 2009. When he went to fill in forms for a Grant as he applied for a Masters in Sept 2009 he had to get letter from Soc Welfare and when he was in the office they told him that he should have been claiming his JB since Jan 2009. He only claimed for 6 weeks before his course started. When his course finishes Aug 2010 will be be able to claim the rest of his JB or does the fact that he was unemployed in 2008 mean that he has no contributions to use for JB?
