Job Seeker's Allowance means test

Hello,

My husband is in receipt of jsa since april 2013. I submitted estimated drawings figures from my accounts for 2012 for means testing. This resulted in a reduction of 40 euro per week. At the end of 2012 tax year accounts the figure I initially submitted was incorrect. I wrote to the deciding officer asking if the new, correct figure would have any bearing on the means test amount. I haven't heard back yet and wondered if anybody on AAM would know if there was a possibility of having the correct amount taken as means. Your comments would be appreciated.

Diana - SW are slow enough but a phone call to follow up on your letter is probably needed. Unfortunately income from the previous 12 months is taken on a 'guide only' basis, so there is no guarantee that the JSA received by your husband will change.

If there is a large difference between the submitted figure and the actual figure for 2012 - you can contact your local Citizens Information Centre and they will advocate with SW on your behalf.

If your husband is the person claiming jobseekers then he should ask for a review of his means. The sw office should not discuss his claim with you so you might not receive a reply to your query.

Hello gipimann,

I am sorry, I worded the letter and my husband signed it. He is thinking about ringing them tomorrow to follow up.

Hello grandyea,

Thank you for your reply. I will ask him to contact the CIF as we feel the amount is large enough to warrant a review. Thank you.
